Probotanic oil is made from <em>Origanum minutiflorum<\/em>, an endemic plant that grows only in the Taurus Mountains of southern Turkey, on hard-to-reach terrain. This species of wild oregano is known for its high carvacrol content: Probotanic oil contains 83.29% carvacrol and 1.16% thymol (GC-MS analysis, 2025).<\/p>\n<p>The oil is 100% pure and undiluted, of organic origin (EU, Serbia) and free of additives. Its chemical composition is verified by GC\/MS analysis and meets the standards of the British Pharmacopoeia.<\/p>\n<h3>What is carvacrol?<\/h3>\n<p>Carvacrol is a monoterpene phenol and, together with thymol, the main active compound of wild oregano. According to numerous studies, carvacrol is what gives the oil its antibacterial action: it damages the membrane of the bacterial cell and disrupts its respiration, so the cell dies. Dilute the drops in a teaspoon of edible oil (sunflower, olive, coconut, linseed\u2026), mix well and swallow quickly, without holding it in your mouth.
